High school students interested in a career in health care are invited to apply for the Summer 2025 High School Healthcare Bootcamps at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville and HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland. The bootcamp is designed for high school juniors and seniors interested in a career in health care to experience a realistic look into various health care roles and make connections in their field of interest. |

Annual Celebrity Pie Auction Set for July 18
The 16th annual “Celebrity Pie Auction” is set for Friday, July 18. Pies will be baked by various Highland celebrities and auctioned off during the “Paint the Town Purple” PBJ Festival Friday, July 18, on the downtown Square beginning at 12:15 pm. Virgil Straeter will serve as auctioneer. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life.
Celebrities who have consented to bake a pie for this year’s auction are Mayor Kevin Hemann, Chief of Police Carole Widman, Jay Boulanger of Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home, Howard Held of Scheffel-Boyle, Ryan Goodwin of Bradford National Bank, Team Bob Nagel/Tootie Reding of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Michelle Herzberg of HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital, Angela Imming of HCS Communications, Superintendent Mike Sutton of Highland Community Schools, Bruce Bellm of Lee’s Fine Jewelry, Jim Gutzler of Highland Tru-Buy, and Joanne Schneck, mother of “Oldie but Goodie” team member Gay Bentlage.
If you want to support one (or more) of the Celebrity Bakers and their pie, please contact them to make a donation. All checks should be payable to American Cancer Society. The Celebrity Pies raised $21,000 last year, and we are hoping to beat that amount this year!
