Chamber Awards Dinner
6/20/2017
5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Event Description
The Chamber's Awards Dinner is a wonderful evening of food and fellowship with Chamber and Community Members alike. This evening allows us an opportunity to grow as leaders in our community as well as recognize and celebrate those who have contributed substantially to make Highland the BEST place to Live, Learn, Work, Shop and Play.

This year we have the opportunity to learn from Lisa Kenney, IMEC Regional Manager with a Master's Degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University and over 30 years of corporate training experience, who will be presenting "No Shortcuts - Co-Pilot Tomorrow's Leaders".

For years, we’ve been talking about Employee Engagement.  Popular opinion now tells us that the Millennial Generation wants “something different,” and they will only be “engaged” at work if they get that elusive and sometimes expensive "something different".  You wonder how you will attract good employees without high-tech workspaces, organic food in the cafeteria, and flexible scheduling.  While these are wonderful additions to any workspace, in this presentation, we will explore a more practical, and perhaps simpler solution.  In “No Shortcuts,” we will see how Engaged Leaders in business, communities, and in family-life, can successfully serve as co-pilots to develop both new and seasoned workers.  Engaged Leaders come alongside their employees, listen and build relationships with them to understand their needs and develop a plan to meet them.  In this competitive job market, it is Engaged Leaders who create Engaged Employees – minus the significant financial investment – resulting in reduced turnover and developing a sustainable workforce that contributes to the bottom line.
